These Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Cupcakes are the perfect Halloween treat for watching the Nightmare Before Christmas this Halloween season.

Each NBC Sally Cupcake has a set of Minnie’s ears and a bow in the middle similar to a Minnie headband from the Disney Parks.

I can’t believe it came out 26 years ago, time really does fly. These cupcakes would be so much fun, as a family activity.

NBC Sally Cupcakes

These Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Cupcakes are the perfect Halloween treat for watching the Nightmare Before Christmas this Halloween season.

Ingredients

Fondant Ears

  • 1 container of sky-blue fondant
  • 1 container of Yellow fondant
  • 1 container of pink fondant
  • 1 container of black fondant
  • 1 C powder sugar
  • 1 cookie sheet
  • 1 wilton bow fondant mold

Cake Ingredients

  • 1 box of French vanilla cake mix cake mix
  • 3 large eggs room temp
  • 1/2 C of softened unsalted sweet cream butter
  • 1 C whole milk
  • 1 TBSP pure vanilla extract
  • yellow teal and pink gel food coloring

Blue vanilla frosting:

  • 2 C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
  • 5 C powder sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 6-10 TBSP heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Fondant Directions

  1. Sprinkle powder sugar onto cutting board and spread around.
  2. Remove blue fondant from container and place onto cutting board
  3. Coat fondant with powder sugar and roll out onto the cutting board into a flat 1/2-inch disk

  4. Using the 4-inch round cutter, cut out 24 circles
  5. Place cut circles onto the cookie sheet
  6. Using the yellow and pink fondant pinch off pieces of fondant and place it into the large bow mold
  7. Lightly use your finger to mold together the two colors into the bow making sure not to blend the colors
  8. Pop the bow out and place onto the cookie sheet
  9. Using the black fondant and smaller bow mold, mold the black fondant into the bow and pop it out
  10. Place onto the cookie sheet
  11. Using the black edible marker, draw out Sally’s stitches onto the blue fondant circle
  12. Fill a cup of water
  13. Using your finger, dip it into the water and run it along the back of the black bow
  14. Place the black bow onto the middle of the colorful bow
  15. Allow to set for 30 minutes

Vanilla cupcakes

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Line muffin pan with the white cupcake liners
  3. In a medium bowl, add the cake mix, butter, milk, and vanilla extract and stir until combined
  4. Split the batter into 3 bowls
  5. Mix in a few drops of yellow food coloring into one bowl
  6. Mix in a few drops of teal food coloring into the second bowl
  7. Mix in a few drops of pink food coloring into the third bowl
  8. Spoon 1 tbsp of each color into the cupcake liners
  9. Repeat steps again
  10. Bake in the oven for about 18-20 minutes.
  11. Pull out the cupcakes and allow to cool before frosting.

Frosting Directions:

  1. Using a stand mixer, combine all ingredients and mix on medium speed.
  2. Mix until you see stiffed peaks in your frosting.
  3. Scoop frosting into the piping bag
  4. Frost cooled cupcakes
  5. Place two circles on the sides for “Ears”
  6. Place the bow in the middle of the cupcakes
  7. Enjoy!
