Caramel Apple Bundt Cake

This caramel apple bundt cake just speaks fall. I have always been a caramel fan, I can literally eat it by the spoonful. The caramel glaze makes this cake. I like to make a second batch of the glaze and pour some on each slice. This caramel apple bundt cake is a perfectly spiced, moist cake and it’s studded with bits of juicy apple  and chopped walnuts. I took this cake to a church dinner and it was gone in no time.

Caramel Apple Bundt Cake

  • 3 C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 C canola oil
  • 1/2 C applesauce unsweetened
  • 1/2 C Greek yogurt plain
  • 1 1/4 C brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 C sugar
  • 3 large eggs room temp
  • 1 TBSP pure vanilla extract
  • 3 Granny Smith apples mediu(peeled/ well chopped

Caramel Glaze Ingredients:

  • 4 TBSP unsalted butter cut into chunks
  • 1/2 C brown sugar packed
  • 1/3 C heavy cream
  • 1/2 C powdered sugar sift before adding to the recipe
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 C chopped walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Prep the fluted pan with a baking spray.
  3. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large bowl. Whisk to mix.
  4. Set aside.
  5. Add oil, applesauce, yogurt, and both sugars in a second large bowl. Mix well to combine.
  6. Add in the eggs and vanilla beating as they are added in with the oil, applesauce, and sugar mixture.
  7. Slowly add the wet mixture in with the dry ingredients.
  8. Stir slightly to just incorporate. (Do not over mix)
  9. Add chopped apples and walnuts to the batter. Use a spatula to fold in gently.

  10. Scoop the batter into the prepared fluted cake pan.
  11. Bake at 325 degrees for 55-65 minutes. (Check by inserting a l wooden toothpick into center. If it comes out clean the cake is done.) (Watch the cake to make sure that the edges of the cake don’t brown you may have to cover it with foil.)

Caramel Glaze Directions:

  1. Add butter to a medium saucepan.
  2. Melt butter over medium heat.
  3. Add brown sugar to the saucepan while whisking together until completely mixed.
  4. Continue to stir while bringing the mixture to a boil.
  5. Allow to boil for one minute without stirring.
  6. Reduce the heat but allow the ingredients to simmer for one minute.
  7. Remove from the heat. Set aside to cool in order to thicken. (This will take about two minutes)
  8. Add in powdered sugar whisking to mix until smooth.
  9. Immediately spoon glaze over cake and top with chopped apples
  10. Allow to cool before serving.
  11. Makes 10 servings. Enjoy!
