  • Your favorite cookie dough recipe (enough to make 12 cookies, about 2 inches in diameter)
  • 4 oz. yellow fondant
  • ½ stick butter, softened
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

  1. Preheat your oven according to your cookie dough’s recipe. Roll out your cookie dough so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick and cut out circles that are about 2 inches in diameter.

  2. Using a butterknife, cut some of the cookie circles in half. Bake according to directions and allow to cool before decorating.

  3. While the cookies cool, you can make your buttercream. Using an electric mixer, beat together butter, sugar and milk. Once the ingredients are well-combined and form semi-stiff peaks, scoop into a frosting bag.

  4. Roll out your fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. Using the same cookie cutter you used for your cookies, cut out circles. Cut some of them in half (the same amount that you cut for your cookies).

  5. Press the fondant pieces on each cookie.

  6. With your buttercream, pipe a border on top of each cookie. For the “full lemon slices,” pipe out an “X” right across the cookie, then one horizontal line and a vertical line.

  7. For the “half lemon slices,” pipe out 4 diagonal lines, mirroring each other.
