Aladdin Cupcakes

I loved the movie Aladdin growing up. I would imagine a magic carpet ride through a whole new world of wonder and awe; dreaming of a magical lamp, with a real genie, there to grant wishes! It is really no surprise that kids adored the heartwarming music and inspiring feel of the classic tale

When I heard there was going to be a Disney reboot of Aladdin, I was so excited I absolutely can’t wait to see it with my family. I’m taking my Autistic sister to see the movie, when we get back we are having Aladdin Cupcakes.

These cupcakes are so magical with their magic lamp cupcake topper. The topper was very easy to make and all the instructions and photos are below.

Seeing this movie with my family is going to make for a magical day.

  • 1 box of vanilla cake mix prepared as cupcakes
  • 2 sticks butter softened
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • 4 small drops purple gel food coloring
  • 1 can edible gold color spray I bought mine at Hobby Lobby
  • 1 magical lamp mold link below
  • 1 bag white chocolate chips
  • Luster dust I got mine at Hobby Lobby

  1. Before decorating cupcakes, ensure they are cool.
  2. Using an electric mixer, start beating butter, sugar, and milk on medium speed. Gradually increase the speed to high and you will see your buttercream starting to take form. It is ready once it forms stiff peaks.
  3. Separate half of the buttercream into another bowl add your 4 small drops of purple gel food coloring. If it’s not the color purple, you want you can always add more.
  4. Using a piping bag, frost half of your cupcakes with the white buttercream and the other half with the purple buttercream.
  5. Using your can of edible gold color spray, take several of your white buttercream cupcakes and spray the tops gold.
  6. Melt your white chocolate in in the microwave in intervals of 45 seconds stirring each time until completely melted.
  7. Once melted take your magical lamp mold and pour your white chocolate into each mold. Tap on a hard surface to get any air bubbles out then place in the refrigerator for about 30 min.

  8. Unmold each chocolate magical lamp. Smooth out the rough edges, this can be done with a small knife.
  9. Spray each magical lamp gold. Let dry about 5 min.
  10. Dip a paint brush into the luster dust then brush on each of the magical lamps.
  11. Place a magical lamp on top of a cupcake. Enjoy!!
