2019 New Year’s Cupcakes

I can hardly believe it’s that time of year again! The time of year to reflect the past 365 days we’ve cherished and looking forward to the new 2-0-1-9 year! Wow, I don’t know about you all, but I have a feeling that 2019 will be a very wonderful year! I’ve already set so many goals and I AM EXCITED to see what’s to come!

These 2019 New Year’s Cupcakes are super easy and super cute. You need 12 of your favorite cupcakes. I chose a chocolate cupcake, feel free to use a box cake mix if you don’t have time to make your own or if you’re really rushed pick up a dozen from your local bakery. The fondant toppers are what really make the cupcake, the step by step directions are below.

Ingredients

  • 12 of your favorite chocolate cupcakes
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • Black gel food coloring
  • 4-5 oz. white fondant
  • Food black marker
  • Black decorating frosting
  • Silver sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Cool your cupcakes on a wire rack. In a medium sized bowl, beat butter, icing sugar and milk using an electric mixer. Beat on medium and gradually increase to high.
  2. Once the ingredients start combining, add a small amount of black gel food coloring. Continue beating until completely tinted.
  3. Scoop your buttercream into a frosting bag and frost each cupcake.
  4. Roll out your white fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick. With a small, circular cookie cutter (about 1 ½ inches in size), cut out 12 fondant circles.
  5. Start decorating your fondant clock: add silver sprinkles where the 12, 3, 6, and 9 should be. Draw out two lines in between each silver sprinkle with your food black marker. Use decorating frosting to draw out the clock’s “hands.”
  6. Place one fondant clock on each cupcake and serve. Enjoy!
