There are few things you can do for your family that are more important than teaching them how to get healthy. Staying active is very important to your health and you have an important role to help lead your family with this. It’s never too soon or too late to start helping your family get more active. When you set the right example, the rest of your family will want to follow. It’s also a great way to spend time together. So what can you do to get your family moving?

Here is how to get healthy and active as a family:


  1. Go for walks – Walking is one of the simplest and easiest activities around and you can do it anywhere and anytime. This makes it a great choice for families because everyone of all ages can take part. It doesn’t require any special equipment and you can do it most anywhere. It will work better if you decide to make this a normal part of your daily routine for your family. You could do a pre-dinner or post-dinner walk. Then, you won’t forget to do it because it becomes part of the daily schedule.
  2. Dance together – Just turn on some of your favorite songs and get your groove on. Dancing is fun, burns calories, and is a great way to keep your entire family active and healthy. There are so many different types of dancing, there is sure to be something for everyone. Don’t worry about how good you are. Just have fun!
  3. Play games/sports – There are many different games and sports that you can do together as a family that get you active and also allow you great quality time together. You could play a sport or game that members of the family already like, or you could try something new together. Part of the fun is the experience.
